Dougie (Ch Paddockridge Rulander)

As well as being incredibly handsome, Doug was a born comedian and quite simply a genius of a dog. He gained the rare title of FULL CHAMPION, and his son Lionel has since also gained the same. He would rival any retrieving breed of dog out in the field and picked up on shoots gaining many compliments from field-men who had not seen a Large Munsterlander before.
He was placed at Working Test events, including winning the highest place LM trophy at Hall Barn, as well as gaining his Show Gundog Working Certificate during a Field Trial and had his Working Gundog Certificate. Most of all, he was a kind but outgoing dog, tolerant and friendly with people and other dogs, and had a famously exceptional temperement. He had an outstanding and completely unexpected show career. |
He was not 'picked' as a show dog. We just liked him....but along the way he has picked up 14 Challenge Certificates, 7 with Best of Breed and 10 Reserve Challenge Certificates. Our most proud showing achievement was winning BEST IN SHOW at the LMC Championship Show in 2016.
Doug has been a true ambassador for the Large Munsterlander breed, attending game fairs and Discover Dog stands over the years and it is wonderful to think a few families have gone on to own their LM after meeting him. He sired three lovely litters to the the Ghyllbeck and Crumpsbrook kennels and in 2018 became a father posthumously, via an artificial insemination to the wonderful Kite. We kept a boy puppy, Amos.
He has 39 children and 30 children across the world including Canada, Holland and France and counting.....
He was a one in a million dog but we are extremely lucky and proud to have his two sons at home who will continue to make us proud.
